Mobi Batman: Earth One Vol. 3 with Free PDF EDITION!

This “Earth One” version of Batman is Johns and Frank’s modern day reinterpretation of the character. The original Batman was inspired by the pulp fiction heroes of its day like Zorro and The Shadow. Ironically, the EO Batman who is inspired by its own 80-year legacy today has resulted in this version as a very paired down interpretation of the original Batman character. Instead of a character that in the comic books has travelled the globe seeking out the best teachers in self-defense and criminology before returning home to Gotham and have a chance encounter with a live bat inspire his new persona, this Batman literally is just an angry man who lost his parents to a mugger and wears a bat costume just because. He’s also less James Bond-ian in his lack of clever multitude of bat-gadgets. However, the tone is more in line with the wild, loose cannon that Daniel Craig delivered in his debut at James Bond in “Casino Royale”.That said, I’ve enjoyed the earlier volumes as variations on a theme, and Volume Three is no different. The earlier books also reinterpreted Alfred the butler, Bruce's parents Thomas and Martha, the Penguin, a pre-Two Face Harvey Dent, and police officer Gordon, who’s a long way from GPD commissioner. Volume Three adds the Riddler and Catwoman. The changes are not only as written creatively by Johns, but also with distinctively visually revised looks by Frank, who's stylistically realistic look is fantastic!This isn’t “my” original Batman, but I’m not too critical of these diversions. If diverse actors like Adam West, Michael Keaton, and Christian Bale can each be praised as someone’s “favorite Batman," then no one Batman is wrong. And we all got to sample different ways to enjoy the Batman.
